As of October 10, 2025, Surigao City felt shaking from a magnitude 7.4 earthquake centered offshore of Manay, Davao Oriental. While not the epicenter, a tsunami warning was issued for Surigao del Norte, and residents were advised to move to higher ground. Government agencies are conducting damage assessments and preparing search and rescue operations. Intensity in Surigao City, Shaking was felt at Intensity IV, which is considered moderately strong.
The CDRRMO response team conducted an on-site inspection and documentation. Coordination with the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) was undertaken for monitoring and possible evacuation if necessary. After the tremor, Phivolcs also issued a tsunami warning for Davao Oriental, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, and Leyte.
Continuous monitoring of the area will be conducted, and further assessment will be coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of the residents.
